Project funded by PEI Interministerial Women's Secretariat:

About the Project

The Commemorating Island Women's Political History project was designed to highlight women's political history in PEI.

The absence of women's experience from historical documents and texts has resulted in a gap in knowledge about women's lives over time. This gap in knowledge is even more pronounced for Indigenous women, women of colour, trans women, women with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQ+ people.

Feminist historians have made a concerted effort to collect, record, and preserve women's history for future generations.

Thanks to funding from the Interministerial Women's Secretariat the Commemorating Island Women's Political History project builds on that work by recording interviews with women candidates and politicians, creating a DIY interview toolkit, and developing a fun colouring resource for children.
